Points to remember while finding an apartment in Poland

Poland is not different from other countries when finding or renting an apartment. Negotiate every detail connected to the apartment before signing the contract. And watch out for any hidden clauses that shift the burden on you.

Find a good location

Ask the landlord questions about the surroundings. Make sure to read about the districts and the city where you planning to rent an apartment. It may vary in safety, public transport, and facilities.

Don’t pay money in advance

Never rely on the photos. Check if everything is proper and the contract is correct. Be aware of the average price to rent a flat in Poland.

Be careful

If something sounds too good to be true then it may be a trap. So make sure to check all the details before signing the contract. Before signing the contract visit the apartment. And try to notice the damages and inform the landlord about them. And get it repaired or else you may be charged when leaving the apartment.

Don’t pay too big deposits

Never agree on huge deposits. As generally, a deposit in Poland for renting a room or flat is the same as the price of one or two months’ rent.

Make a good impression

When you meet with the landlord make a good impression, dress smart, and be polite. The landlady may check your background by asking a few personal questions.

Check your budget

Calculate the amount you can afford and do not rent an apartment that you can barely afford. As the cost of living is not only paying rent and bills but also food, transportation, and healthcare. As a rule of thumb, your rent should be less than a third of your monthly income.

Check the contract

You can always ask the landlady to send a copy of the contract to your email to check if everything is in place. Check the details of the deposit amount and its returning time. What will be your monthly rent payment date? Which costs the rent includes? Understand the rental time, the method of payment. And check the information about the landlord and the tenant.
