How to find an apartment in Spain?

To find an apartment in Spain, you start with Idealista and Fotocasa. You can also look at Facebook groups or other social media. A popular example is ALQUILER DE HABITACION EN MADRID Y TODA ESPAÑA!!!.

You can also walk around a neighborhood and look for rental signs.
You always want to contact landladies directly. But if you use an agency, make sure you know how much you will have to pay them. In Spain, agencies sometimes want you to pay them a month’s rent just because they show you an apartment.

Most websites listed below are at least in Spanish, Catalan, and English. Some are available in other European languages and Chinese. If you need to, use Google Translate or any other translation service.

I present some of the most popular apps and websites for finding an apartment in Spain. You can also look into sharing a flat with someone else.

All these websites have filters that allow you to narrow your search. You can search by type of housing, municipality, neighborhood, and postal code. You can use other filters: by price, number of rooms, number of bathrooms, extras, state of the property, and more.

You may want to try to contact the property owners directly. But if you use an agency,  determine how much you will have to pay them. In Spain, agencies sometimes want you to pay them a month’s rent just because they show you an apartment.

You can search for the words ‘Sin Comision’, which is ‘no commission’ in Spanish, to find ads by landlords. You can also check who put up an ad, an agency or a private individual.

Idealista is one of the most popular real estate websites in Spain. It has an app version. It is easy to use, and you can find helpful information. You can buy, rent, or share a space. You can find advertisements from individuals and real estate agents.

Fotocasa has apartments for sale, rent, share, or vacation. It is one of the most popular real estate websites in Spain. Fotocasa is an app.

Habitaclia is another very popular real estate website in Spain. It has an app as well.

Pisos.com is another very popular real estate website in Spain. You can search in Spain and in the south of France. It has a mortgage calculator.

Yaencontré is another very popular real estate website in Spain. It’s for rent or for sale. You can find brand new houses as well. You can calculate the mortgage that you would need for a certain flat. They now have their own app.

Indomio is another popular real estate website in Spain.

Wallapop is a very popular website for classifieds in Spain. It has real estate listings.

Tablón de Anuncios is another very popular website for classifieds in Spain. It has real estate listings.

Enalquiler is about renting a place in Spain.

Housfy is about buying and renting houses and apartments. It lets landladies directly manage how they sell and rent their properties. You can contact the property owner directly. It is popular in Spain.

Pisocompartido is about sharing accommodation. You can search for your room to rent or find the ideal roommates.

Housell is about buying and selling houses and apartments. You can quickly sell your home to another private individual without intermediaries.

If you are looking for short-term rentals for a few months, you can explore popular websites for accommodation. For example, Booking or Airbnb would have apartments listed that you could rent for a few months. One significant advantage is that you can try the place for a few days and then work out a deal with the owner.

Badi is about short-term monthly rentals.

Facebook groups on finding an apartment in Spain

These are some groups I found about renting a flat around Spain. I searched ‘Alquilar en Espana’, which is ‘to rent in Spain’ in Spanish. You can find more groups.
