The Visa process for Nigeria is very much simplified. The Nigerian visa application process has now been made online. There are certain things that you need to know before applying for the visa, as there are some countries whose citizens can visit Nigeria without a permit. So, if you need access you need to follow some of the steps to apply for the visa. The most important for the application is to fill out the application form correctly. The major classifications for the Nigerian passport are as follows:

  • Tourists Visas
  • Business Visas
  • Temporary Work Visa
  • Subject to Regularization

Do I Need a Visa to enter Nigeria?

To Enter Nigeria, you must have a passport valid for six months a visa. And evidence of vaccinations for polio and yellow fever. Only by official prior arrangements before travel can you get a “visa upon arrival” at the airport. Visit the website of the Embassy of Nigeria for the most recent information on visas and entries.

Former Nigerian nationals holding a valid foreign passport along with expired Nigerian passport are also not eligible to get visas.
 
Kenyan nationals can get a visa for a maximum stay of 90 days upon the arrival.
 
Diplomatic or service group passport holders issued to nationals of Brazil, China, Namibia, and South Africa do not need a visa for Nigeria and diplomatic passport holders issued to Turkish citizens.
Chinese nationals holding public affairs passports do not need a visa for a maximum stay of 30 days.

How to get a visa for Nigeria?

Documents Required for the Visa Application

Tourists Visa

  • A valid passport is mandatory, with at least six months of validity.
  • Filled visa application form.
  • Online payment receipt for confirmation.
  • Recent passport-sized photograph (2 copies).
  • Hotel reservation.
  • Valid return airline ticket.
  • Evidence of sufficient funds to cover to stay in Nigeria (like bank statement, etc.).

Business Visa

  • A valid passport is mandatory, with at least six months of validity.
  • Filled visa application form.
  • Online payment receipt for confirmation.
  • Recent passport-sized photograph (2 copies).
  • Hotel reservation.
  • Valid return airline ticket.
  • Invitation letter from the Host Company. It must state your full immigration and financial status while staying in Nigeria.
  • Introduction letter from the applicant’s company or organization.

Temporary Work Permit Visa

  • A valid passport is mandatory, with at least six months of validity.
  • Filled visa application form.
  • Online payment receipt for confirmation.
  • Recent passport-sized photograph (2 copies).
  • Introduction letter from the applicant’s company or organization in Nigeria.
  • Valid Flight Ticket (if applicable).

Subject To Regularization (STR) Visa

  • A valid passport is mandatory with at least six months of validity.
  • Filled visa application form.
  • Online payment receipt for confirmation.
  • Recent passport-sized photograph (2 copies).
  • Employment offer letter (4 copies).
  • Employment letters acceptance copy (4 copies).
  • Resume, Degrees, and all required certificates (4 copies with original)
  • 4 Copies of resume, degrees, and certificates earned
  • The formal letter was requesting for STR visa from the company in  Nigeria (4 documents).

The above-listed documents should be arranged into the sets of 4 copies of each document.

Individual DOCUMENTS UNDER THE AGE OF 18

 
  • The application must be accompanied by photocopies of parents’ passports (bio-data page). Or valid ID as well as proof of payment to Innovate1 Service.
  • Copy of birth certificate for infant
  • Notarized letter of approval read together by both parents

How much is a Visa for Nigeria?

A visa fee of $180USD plus a processing fee of $30USD is payable for each single entry visa or multiple entry visas. All payments are collected by way of a money order made payable to the Nigerian Embassy.

How long does it take to get a Nigerian visa?

The Nigerian visa application process generally takes 3-5 working days to get approved. Although it depends on the type of visa application you have applied for.

How to apply for an online Nigeria Visa?

  • Click here portal.immigration.gov.ng
  • Fill out online forms, upload, and print it out.
  • Proceed to the payment section; choose payment with money order choice. Make sure you have the actual money order fees, as you will be expected to enter the money order information into the system.
  • For American passport holders, the new visa fee is $160.

GUIDE ON HOW To FILL OUT ONLINE VISA

Step 1:
 
Go to the website for immigration in Nigeria on https:/portal.immigration.gov.ng.
 
Step 2:
 
Choose Free Zone for visa/visa entry.
 
Step 3:
 
Click on Country Sorting, pick the USA.
 
Step 4:
 
Click on Start Request
 
Step 5:
 
The application appears on the website of Inovate1 Services. Please login with your current Google email or Yahoo email account. And create an account for the application process.
 
Step 6:
 
Start the application process after logging in. Register your account with Innovate1 Services
 
Step 7:
 
Choose WASHINGTON DC as your service center.
 
Step 8:
 
Fill in the form and press the SUBMIT button, then print out the entire document (seven pages)
 
Step 9:
 
After you have applied you will receive an application ID.
 
Step 10:
 
Please proceed and make a VISA FEE PAYMENT with your debit or credit card using the application ID.
 
Step 11:
 
If you do not have a debit or credit card, please buy a $160 money order (visa fee). Connect the money order to the Application ID and Reference number
 
Please note: If you pay with a money order, you must wait to get confirmation from Innovate1 Services that they have received your money order.
 
Step 12:
 
Please print your Visa Payment Slip and Visa Receipt form.

OFFICIAL, DIPLOMATIC, & OTHER OFFICIAL PASSPORTS

 
Holders of Diplomatic / Official Passport are expected to complete the online application form: portal.immigration.gov.ngwelcome to get an Application ID and Reference number. The completed application form must be printed and submitted with two passport-sized photos. Also including Official Passport and any other supporting document(s) at the Embassy.
